The Crazy Is Concentrated!

By Jeff Simpson

H/T Dan Bice for today's entrance into right wing crazy world!

To secede or not to secede.
That will be the question for Wisconsin Republicans at next month's convention.
Earlier this month, the party's Resolutions Committee voted in favor of a proposal that says the state party "supports legislation that upholds Wisconsin's right, under extreme circumstances, to secede."
A version of the so-called "state sovereignty" resolution was first OK'd last month by one of the state GOP's eight regional caucuses as an assertion of the state's 10th Amendment rights. The measure also calls for ending all mandates that go "beyond the scope of the constitutionally delegated powers of the federal government."
Top Republican officials hoped to kill the fringe proposal during a meeting of the resolutions panel at the Hyatt Hotel in Milwaukee on April 5. Instead, the committee made a few edits to the resolution and adopted it on a split vote.
Now, the matter will go for final approval to the delegates attending the state Republican Party's convention in Milwaukee on May 2-4.

The Wisconsin TEA Party is making big strides within the Republican Party of WI. Keep it up, Patriots!

While the Wisconsin "tea party" celebrates, Scott Walker runs from them:

Gov. Scott Walker, the leader of the state party, distanced himself from the resolution last week.
"I don't think that one aligns with where most Republican officials are in the state of Wisconsin — certainly not with me," Walker said at a press event on Friday.

Then Walker, not surprisingly sticks in one last dig -

The governor said Republicans and Democrats have both had their share of unconventional resolutions over the years.

Between this and the recent intra party attacks on the few remaining reasonable moderates left in the republican party, the Bradely gopher boys are out in force trying to minimize the incredible damage they have done.

So here is my question to our loyal readers:

Tell me who in the Dem party is NOT a moderate and WHY.  Tell me where in the Dem party a resolution has been voted on that compares to states secession.

I have brought this up before, pointing out the damage that the false equivalency does to our state.

If you truly think there is  equivalency, I want to see some examples*!

*Examples have to be within the last four years.

  1. Also note how the scared righties try to move the Overton Window by painting the Dems as lacking moderates.

As Jeff points out, name a Dem politician who ISNT around the middle of what Wisconsin voters want- be it raising the minimum wage, passing amendments against Citizens United, outsourcing jobs due to unfair trade policies, and funding and supporting public schools? If anything, much of the public wants Dems to go FURTHER LEFT.

Only in the scared minds of bubble-worlders are Dems even in the same galaxy of radicalism that you find in WisGOP. This should be pointed out to the media again and again

  2. So here is my question to the readers.

Which side did Wisconsin fight on during the civil war?

    What were their beliefs?

They would be turning in their graves now.

  3. Bice lets SKW off the hook by giving him a public forum to disassociate with an obviously nutty view--but also a real part of the whole Tea Party ideology.
Walker's concern has always been public perception along with its reaction, he's always on campaign. None of the ideas he pushes are his own ideas. That's why he so rarely speaks to the public: a lot like W was. He doesn't like answering unscripted questions.
10th Amendment rights, ALEC's business, the Kochs and Bradleys, this is what they think, their grand vision of the future.

  4. I sometimes think that Milwaukee and Madison should secede from the state for 1 year and the rest of the state might realize that their rightwing politics are the takers.

  5. 1. Equal pay for equal work. That's extreme. Some dems seem to like that idea. Not in the bible.

    2. Condoms for sale. Dems seem to like to buy them. Republicans are forced to buy them sometimes because their women are uppity and want out of the house. Not in the bible either.

  6. The republicans are like the moth drawn to the flame. Let the self immolation begin. They heap on the wood in their race to take the Great State of Wisconsin to the bottom. Add a little gas with more money dumped the coffers of ultra conservatives who seek election in the gerrymandered districts. They strike the match with their crazy speak of arresting federal officials or succession. And the flames catch Scott Walker on fire, pant included.

  8. Has the State GOP decided to sabotage Walker or is that the lid is finally all the way off the can of crazy with no one around to pound it back in place? This week, this week alone we have swan hunting, Ellis, Petri, Kramer in court, and secession. And it's only Tuesday.

  9. How will Wisconsin's reactionaries get their wingnut welfare from the Koch's and Sheldon Adelson when Wisconsin is no longer part of the United States? Aren't there laws against contributing to foreign political candidates?
