Krug's Subterfuge

By Jeff Simpson

H/T Dan Bice:

"My first spending cut is promising not to collect one cent of (legislative) per diem money ever," Scott Krug(R- Nekoosa)  told the Wisconsin State Journal in 2010.

Forgetting that fact that not collecting per diem's is NOT a spending cut, let's look at the definition of ever.

adverb: ever
  1. 1.
    at any time.
"nothing ever seemed to ruffle her"
synonyms:at any time, at any point, on any occasion, under any circumstances, on any account; More
    up till now, until now
    "the best I've ever done"
    • used in comparisons for emphasis.
"they felt better than ever before"
  2. 2.
    at all times; always.
"ever the man of action, he was impatient with intellectuals"
synonyms:always, forever, eternally, until hell freezes over, until the cows come home More

But wait there is more:

noun \ˈprä-məs\
: a statement telling someone that you will definitely do something or that something will definitely happen in the future
: an indication of future success or improvement
: a reason to expect that something will happen in the future
Now, as so often happens in Wisconsin, reality and the republican talking points do not match up!

But recently released records show Krug finished in the top 20 in the state Assembly for these tax-free payments in 2013, banking $10,560 for 120 days of work in Madison. That comes on top of his salary of $49,943 per year.
Krug's explanation:

"Obviously, those first two years in office, that's a fifth of our salary, leaving it on the table there," he said. "That's a decent sacrifice to make for the situation we were in."

Who knew that campaign pledges had term limits?

"Apparently, Scott Krug's promises are only good for two years," said Scott Spector, executive director of the liberal group Wisconsin Progress.

We know that Scott Krug is not one of the brightest bulbs on the Holiday tree, so let's help him out.

Per diem is NOT salary (you would think someone who is making major fiscal decisions would understand that).

 per diem (ˈpɜː ˈdaɪɛm; ˈdiːɛm)
1. every day or by the day
2. (Commerce)
a. an allowance for daily expenses, usually those incurred while working
b. (as modifier): a per-diem allowance.
Salary :  Salary is a fixed amount of money or compensation paid to an employee by an employer in return for work performed. Salary is commonly paid in fixed intervals, for example, monthly payments of one-twelfth of the annual salary.

Krug won by 100 votes in the last election, let's hope there are 50 people in Nekoosa sufficiently embarrassed by his incompetence that they switch their vote!

Here is Krug accepting the WMC job creator award(isnt that ironic)!

Luckily for the people of the 72nd District, you have a real choice.  You have a real intelligent public servant running against Scott - Dana Duncan

You should "like" Dana Duncan's facebook page here and let's get him elected!

  1. "Who knew that campaign pledges had term limits?"

    Scott Walker knew that.

In his first campaign to be Milwaukee County Executive he pledged that he would not take the full pay of the Exec. office, he was going to stay at the pay of a state legislator. But that was only for his first term in office, the next term he took the full paycheck. He took the full paycheck even though one of those years he had the equivalent of 128 vacation/personal days.

  2. Scott Krug, Scott Suder, Scott Fitzgerald, Scott Jensen, Scott Macallum, Scott Walker, Scott Toilet Tissue; is there a pattern here besides the fact that they are all good for the same thing? We need a moratorium on political Scotts

  3. Looks to me like Scott Krug bought (and ate) $10,560 worth of beer and cheese with his per diem. He's a heart attack just waiting to happen.

    1. Interesting. If he gets kicked out of office, he won't be able to get health insurance because of his obesity. He'll have to get insurance through the Affordable Healthcare Act.
