Love, Hate or Satire?

By Jeff Simpson

I need a little help from our readers!   I recently posted this blog on Forward Lookout, another blog I use for more Dane County happenings.   Where I pointed out that this sums up why I left the Catholic church:

http://www.forwardlookout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/BishopVickiSchm.jpg

Like Clockwork, Dave Blaska came to Vicki Mckenna's defense(apparently she is unable too) and in our discussion,  I pointed out that when she organized her rabid supporters to show up in New Berlin and hand out pacifies to teachers who wanted a say in their workplace, that showed the hatred and vitriol that Vicki Mckenna(Pyzinski) exhibits on a daily basis.  Also that the Bishop of the Catholic church should follow Jesus's teachings and not support this kind of hatred.

Mr. B said it was not hatred at all but "satire"

I will let you decide

Hatred or Satire?

  1. I suggest if we started performing similar gestures TOWARD McKenna, we'd be quickly dismissed as being 'typical Libs'.

  2. The pacifiers were coupled with loud and sustained taunts of "boo hoo" etc. to indicate that the teachers who were speaking at their local government meeting did not have legitimate concerns. It was disturbing to teachers who read about it and to the supporters of public education who witnessed it. If that was 'satire', it was too mean-spirited. McKenna and friends should work on their act.

    1. It was also done to drown out the teachers giving their side of the story, which means WHAAAA-ska and company really hate freedom of speech.

By the way, New Berlin's district has had major teacher resignations, and now just lost another $811,000 in state aid for next year, so now you have worse schools and higher taxes. How's following with Icki's hatred working out for ya, NB?

  3. Right-wingers don't know satire, it's why Faux News failed when they tried to copy "The Daily Show".

    Try again WHAAAAA-ska.

  4. It was an attempt at satire/humor that probably wasn't even intended to amuse.

The whole point was to bully the teachers into backing down, and "knowing their place."

Five or six years ago, when I used to go to one of the high schools every week to drop-off/pick-up, the New Berlin schools were already well on their way to being Dystopian/Orwellian places to work. Some troubled kid at Ike had scrawled a bomb threat on a toilet stall. It was the only excuse needed to get a 1/2 dozen or so cops with .45 automatics strapped to their hips, in plain clothes, patrolling the halls in each of the high schools.

There were surveillance cameras everywhere, electronic locks on doors restricting access and students needed a pass from a teacher for any and every little thing. I had gone to a high school in the same athletic conference -- decades ago -- and I was totally appalled. Critical thinking and honest, open inquiry did not seem to be educational values emphasized by school administrators.

I can only imagine how much worse things must have gotten after Der Wanker's "Budget Reform" gutted teacher's individual rights.

...But honestly, I don't know that I'd say "hatred" is the right word to characterize the mindset or intent of those authoritarian pricks. Ignorance/indifference might be more apt. They don't know or care what anyone thinks -- not even other (less fanatical) Republicans, "Rino's" -- so how can they "hate" those people? Their problem is the that the electron microscope hasn't been invented yet, that might be powerful enough to reveal the slightest evidence that they have any empathy or respect or tolerance for others.

  6. Hatred all the way.

I was one of the teachers at that infamous school board meeting in August 2012. After all the right wingnut talk show hosts, including Miss Vicki, issued a call to action for their loyal listeners to "come out and show the teachers who's the boss", the atmosphere started ugly and got worse.

Before the meeting started, I watched 2 little old ladies being screamed at by a Sasquatch-sized guy with a CRG T-shirt. He was chanting over & over, "Teachers Suck" as these 2 little ladies were admonishing him that "not all teachers suck". Finally, he let loose with a huge gob of spit, right in the faces of these 2 little old ladies.

As the atmosphere inside the meeting grew more ugly, I told the group of teachers I was with that we had better get out before the place exploded. Others had the same idea-driven out by the HATRED of the right wingnuts extolled to attend the meeting by Miss Vicki, Charley Sykes, and Mark Belling.

As we left, we were pelted with pacifiers. I was probably spit on by 20 different people. When I stopped to confront a guy with a "Stand with Walker" T-shirt who was standing near an aisle spitting on teachers, a New Berlin cop quickly intervened and threatened to arrest ME.

Lucky for me that this cop did intervene. He told us that he was going to escort us out because there were some bad things happening outside. As we walked to our car, we were followed by an angry mob of "Stand With Walker" supporters who were yelling, "Get the Hell Out of New Berlin", "Teachers Suck", "Stand With Walker".

For anyone considering living or teaching in Wisconsin, THIS sort of HATRED is what you will face for the rest of your life.

    1. Da-yummmm. I knew things were going off the rails back in 2007 and 2008 but after graduation, nobody had to go back.

I really got to know only a few of the other parents very well, better than any of the teachers, except for one who only coached a sport but wasn't a teacher. When he got a job offer from another district, he ran to take it.

Really sorry about your experience, I hope you've found a better environment.

I did find this video of the school board meeting. 8/2011. https://vimeo.com/30166769

  7. Just read David Blaska's replies in your Dane County blog.

As is often the case, he really sanitized the ugliness & cruel behavior exhibited by the mob of Repub-Thugz during that New Berlin school board meeting.

Would someone please tell David that the pacifiers weren't being "handed out" to teachers at the meeting?

The pacifiers were being thrown at teachers who were attempting to leave the out-of-control meeting-teachers were being hit in their faces by pacifiers, often being thrown by angry white male Walker supporters standing less than 10 feet away.

The intent was not to "hand out" pacifiers, the intent was to physically and emotionally hurt every teacher in attendance at that meeting.

    1. Sounds like Jim Crow era bullshit being perpetrated on civil servants, the individuals responsible for teaching and molding the minds of the future of this country. That is Mob mentality and bullying behavior, also considered battery legally speaking. The Teahadist and Tealiban types that have taken over the Republican party has caused me to realize that party abandoned me. I believed in Bushs compassionate Conservatism and boy was I fooled! I quickly realized I had been Limbaughtomized with the persecutory delusion kool-aid handed out by Sykes, Belling, Limbaugh, and the rest of these sanctimonious, knuckle dragging mouth breathers who have been made to believe that Scooter is on their team, that they personally win if he gets everything he wants even when it hurts his own mother, brother, sister, or cousin. This party is not the party of Jesus like they claim. Jesus would never treat teachers, the poor, the disabled, sick, women, minorities, children, or anyone for that matter this way. People are starting to see the man behind the curtain pretending to be the great wizard of oz, the curtain is pulled back more and more every day. Scooter had cost this state more than he will admit as his aspirations for higher office loom large. His delusions of grandeur are a sign of either a mood disorder or psychopathy. He believes he is above all rules and laws. While he undermines everything us working people have built in this state, as he rips the safety net apart completely, he all but guarantees Socialism will return in Wisconsin. History is repeating itself, lest we forget.

  8. Let me guess. The parents and taxpayers of New Berlin were enthralled with the teachers -- couldn't wait to satisfy their every demand -- but then Scott Walker and Vicki McKenna twisted their tiny, reptilian brains into thinking that maybe, during an economic downturn, even teachers should help carry a little of the taxpayers' ever-increasing burden. And somehow Walker and Vicki were able to bamboozle voters thruout the state of Wisconsin into making him the only governor in U.S. history to beat a recall -- with an even greater margin of victory than the first go-around against Tom Barrett who, in the recall, could not bring himself to utter the word teacher.

    1. Excuse me, but where are your posts about how the bankers, the CEOs, the lobbyists, etc., have to pay their fair share? Why do you feel the need to lash out at people who teach our children? Is it that critical thinking people make you feel threatened? I could see why that would be.

    2. David Blaska,

Why did you and other right wing commentators characterize teachers as “thugs?” Your demonization bred hatred and division? How can you justify using such a libelous label?

I am always careful to use this historical comparison, but in this case, it is valid. The demonization committed by Republican right wingers calling teachers “thugs” is exactly what the Nazis did to Jews. Though we will not see Republicans march teachers into concentration camps, we do see hatred and violence from right wingers who believe the poison manufactured by Blaska, McKenna and Sykes.

David Blaska, you should be ashamed of your irresponsible rhetoric.

  10. This is almost a year BEFORE the recall election, before the petition drive even started. And still doesn't explain why the Dem nominee couldn't bring himself to utter the words "collective bargaining" even once.

  11. David, no need to downgrade yourself when you refer to "tiny reptilian brain". You are smarter than Scott Walker. Nearly every human being is. Maybe even Miss Vicki. Maybe.

I noticed how you cannot address the HATRED towards teachers that has enveloped Wisconsin in a sea of darkness since the election of Scott Walker as Governor. As to the specific example of New Berlin, this city is the capitol of TeaPublican Waukesha County, where the only good teacher is one that makes $30,000 the starting salary in New Berlin since Act 10. The most experienced teachers in New Berlin, those with a masters or doctorate degrees make less than $65,000 per year, plus get to experience 24/7 non-stop HATRED from the entire community.

Small wonder that in the last two years, New Berlin has lost over 60% of it's experienced teachers; many of them to states that recognize that a strong educational system is the key to prosperity.

Oh, and one more lesson for you David. New Berlin teachers have a history of sacrificing for the community good. In 1993-94, when then Governor Tommy Thompson imposed the QEO on Wisconsin teachers, New Berlin teachers were in the first year of a three year contract. The teacher union VOLUNTARILY opened the contract to take pay cuts so the district wouldn't have to lay off 100+ teachers and increase class sizes to 40+_ per class. In the case of Scott Walker's Act 10, the unions had already agreed to the pension and health insurance changes when Governor Scott decided to escalate the fight and divide Wisconsin.

Funny how you supposedly intelligent Re-thuglicans just can't seem to write anything that even remotely resembles the truth. Must be those "tiny reptilian brains", huh?

    1. Losing 60% of teachers in 2 years says it all. You can't have a quality organization, schools or businesses, with such high turnover.

In 2011, New Berlin students had excellent test scores
      http://www.trulia.com/school-district/WI-Waukesha_County/New_Berlin_School_District/

So on what grounds did that anti-teacher speaker at the New Berlin Board meeting claim schools were going downhill when the school under discussion had top test scores?

I'll bet dollars to donuts those scores are going to drop. Destroy the morale of your employees and you will see poorer results. Guaranteed.

    2. A 60% turnover of employees will create deep harm in any organization, including schools. Expect the academic performance of New Berlin students to decline. Guaranteed.

    3. Yeah, yeah. We've been hearing that doomsday stuff for several years now. THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! Could it be that the new blood -- teachers without a chip on their shoulders -- reinvigorates the classroom? Teachers acting like professionals instead of aggrieved, 1930s-style assembly line workers? We've already seen that the slashing of positions that was predicted came not to pass. Glad that N.B. teachers agreed to save jobs but that has not been the case everywhere; Milwaukee being the most notorious example. BTW: schoolyard name-calling like "Re-thuglicans" doesn't help your cause.

    4. The key phrase is acting like professionals instead of being professionals. We understand, David, how you are intimidated by people smarter than you and people who make other people smarter than you, but your boorish behavior is rather tiresome.

  12. The Madison School Board should limit the school property tax hike to the rate of inflation next year, even if that means scaling back a proposed 1.5 percent across-the-board salary increase for school district employees. Who is this Koch-loving, Limbaugh-listening "Re-thuglocrat?" None other than Madison school board member Mary Burke, whom Democrats are promoting as a possible candidate to run against Scott Walker.

”I think in an environment where we’ve seen real wages in Dane County decrease, and a lot of people are on fixed incomes, we have to work as hard as possible to limit any increase to the inflation rate,” Burke said Tuesday in an interview.

  13. What's the matter David? After years of you and your ilk in the Republican Party calling teachers "Thugs, Fat B$#ches, Lazy, Overpaid Moochers, Crybaby Whiners, Idiots, Stupid, Pigs, Money Whores, etc...., you have the audacity to whine over being called a Re-Thuglican?

If the shoe fits, (and it fits YOU just fine), wear it. You and your ilk brought this on, now live with it.

  14. You're good at name-calling. What would you call Mary Burke, former department head in the Jim Doyle regime, who wants to cut back on a promised 1.5% teacher pay hike?

    ReplyDelete
  15. No it is Republicans like you, and your bosom buddies Miss Vicki, Charley Sykes, and Mark Belling that are the name calling champions in Wisconsin. There are those of us who HAVE kept track of your blog posts, all of your written words denigrating all Wisconsin teachers during the last few years.

Just like your Tea Party buddies who have created a Blacklist in Wisconsin to hurt anyone who signed a Scott Walker recall petition, there are those of us who have kept excellent records & copies of all the hatred that spewed from your mouths & keyboards as well.

To answer your question, though, I would call her Ms. Burke.

The next time she does something you or your ilk doesn't agree with, based on your history, I bet you will be calling her much more ugly names than Ms. Burke.

I would hope that you would prove me wrong, but I highly doubt it.

  16. I live in New Berlin and this school district is one of the most vindictive in southeast WI and worse since Act 10. They will drive the best teachers either into retirement if they are able or to another school district that treats their employees like human beings. New Berlin's School District will suffer the negative affects. I'm just glad I don't have kids that will suffer as a result of this malfeasance from the extreme right wing of the Republican party.

  17. Wait Vicki McKenna didn't she have an affair with the police chief? Real family values there. What a hypocritical, low life piece of pond scum. This isn't seasoned debate this is terrorist behavior. These people are attempting to implement their version of sharia law minus the burkas and substituting a warped interpretation of Christianity instead of Islam. Their chickens will come home to roost. They are heavily arming a populace and removing their economic and educational security. There is no excuse for the attack on the disabled, poor, and lower middle classes. I'm not saying I want violence to erupt, but they are creating conditions that are going to be ripe with individuals who have nothing to lose by taking revenge against someone or the party of those who make these laws. It doesn't take a whole lot to trigger homicidal fantasies in an unstable individual who is in a crisis. I fear the day this begins.
