Keeping the Atheist in Christmas!

By Jeff Simpson

A lot has been said and written about the following clip, how Senator Ron Johnson (R-class rings) said that Obamacare " was the greatest assault on freedom" . Well RoJo said that when he was running for office and still was elected.  Besides, he was correct anyway.  Thanks to Obamacare, millions of Americans are no longer "free" to die a slow horrible painful death because they do not have insurance.

However there is a better quote I would like to point out:

"A friend of mine, Ben Ganther, who is a small business owner and owner of a construction company, called me up one day and said there is this bid ole statue on the side of the road for sale. It was Atlas and he had the world and it was obviously the Atlas shrugged symbol, and said you know he was thinking about buying it.  I said absolutely, I will pay for half.  So he bought it up right away because he is a contractor, put it up in front of his business, you know in a really nice stand with a nice little patio around it lights and he puts Christmas lights on it in the winter time.  So I was proud to actually participate in that project."

Yes Ron nothing celebrates the birth of Jesus, like a bunch of commercial lights on a statue of a false deity who represents a bad book written by a devout Atheist.   Way to understand the true meaning of Christmas guys!

Unfortunately Linus Van Pelt is smarter than our Senator:

  2. I'm a transplant to Wisconsin. I have lived in Wisconsin for more years than my birth state. Until recently (last few years) I have been extremely proud to say I'm from Wisconsin.

With the current set of morons in the state and federal governments representing Wisconsin I am dismayed at how such a fine progressive state has been hijacked by such hacks. Hacks who have been bought and paid for by outside corporatist.

At this point I'm glad my kids are all adults and were fortunate to have beaten the assault and destruction on Wisconsin education system.

I hope that the day will come soon when the voters will see how they have been lied to and will turn these morons out.

Hopefully they all will have their own "good old boys club" in the state and federal prisons where they are rightfully destine to end up.

Until then we are all sadly in for a rough ride.

  3. Ayn Rand is not just an atheist, she has a very anti-Christian message, so it is odd that religious folks can't see that.

Of course "God helps those who helps themselves" is a common belief among Christians, but, it is more a practical saying, not Bible based. A more important idea and actually said by Jesus himself: "Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do unto Me".

I saw this interview yesterday and didn't notice the discrepancy, I wasn't thinking about religion at the time, so thanks for pointing this out. It is important to get the facts.

  4. Interesting post!

I take it that you are more interested in Sen. Johnson's hipocrisy and general mental vacancy than taking a stand on Religion.

Atheists are among the staunchest supporters of religious freedom (including freedom from religion) in our country.

    Keep up the good work!

  5. It get's worse. Dumb Ron Johnson probably isn't aware that Ayn Rand's original inspiration for her philosophy and fiction was a serial killer. What could be more Christian than that?

    http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2012/08/mark-ames-paul-ryans-guru-ayn-rand-worshipped-a-serial-killer-who-kidnapped-and-dismembered-little-girls.html

"So what, and who, was Ayn Rand for and against? The best way to get to the bottom of it is to take a look at how she developed the superhero of her novel, Atlas Shrugged, John Galt. Back in the late 1920s, as Ayn Rand was working out her philosophy, she became enthralled by a real-life American serial killer, William Edward Hickman, whose gruesome, sadistic dismemberment of 12-year-old girl named Marion Parker in 1927 shocked the nation. Rand filled her early notebooks with worshipful praise of Hickman. According to biographer Jennifer Burns, author of Goddess of the Market, Rand was so smitten by Hickman that she modeled her first literary creation — Danny Renahan, the protagonist of her unfinished first novel, The Little Street — on him.

What did Rand admire so much about Hickman? His sociopathic qualities: “Other people do not exist for him, and he does not see why they should,” she wrote, gushing that Hickman had “no regard whatsoever for all that society holds sacred, and with a consciousness all his own. He has the true, innate psychology of a Superman. He can never realize and feel ‘other people.’”

  6. It's almost as if they had practice in reading books and picking and choosing the verses they preferred.

    1. The funny part of it is that he ran on a sob story about how his daughter was born with a heart condition that required surgical correction. Supposedly this procedure would no longer be possible(?) under the Affordable Healthcare Act? His reasoning never made sense to me -- rich people will always be able to buy the medical care they or their families need; as far as I can tell AHA would make it possible for poor people to get a little bit of the same. How does that hurt Senator Johnson or his family? I'm still scratching my head over that.

  8. Atlas holding up the world was not a symbol invented by Rand, just co-opted by her. This could very well be a believer in Greek mythology that owned it originally.
