Paul Ryan - Career Politician

According to his brother who always thought one day that Paul would get a real job.

Why work for a living when you have figured out a way to become rich on the taxpayers dime? Let them do your work for you!

  1. So...because conservatives would like to return to smaller government and rule by citizens instead of a credentialed ruling class of professional bureaucrats, all of their representatives have to be part-time amateurs, or they're hypocrites.

    OK.

Sort of like those conservatives who favored term-limits: If they didn't term-limit themselves out of existence, they were hypocrites. And thus endeth the movement.

I certainly hope that there aren't any liberals out there who own firearms. Or drive cars that aren't hybrids. Or wear sneakers made by non-union labor. Or contribute money to tax-exempt 501(c)s whose stated purpose is to "get money out of politics" and who work toward that goal by lobbying politicians and greasing palms with those contributions.

Such hypocrisy might give me the vapors.

  2. Pasta i dont know who you are but so far youve brought nothing to the table. Lets get a couple things clear.

    1. I wish there were conservatives in our Government.

    2. There is no one outside of ron paul who wants to make our "government smaller" certainly no one who calls themselves a republican and resides in the state of WI anyway.

    3. yes if you ran on imposing term limits and then were elected and did not try and enact the, your a hypocrite. Unless of course you ran on proposing term limits for everyone but myself, because no one could ever govern as well as me.

    4. there is no chance in todays political system to have "citizen legislators" in the higher branches of government

  3. If you really think about it, Pastafarian, we are not the hypocrites.
"Pastafarian," you must like Paul Ryan because he likes Rage Against The Machine. How "hip," how "cool."
Has Imustberacist taken on a new ID?
Why is Pastafarian trolling a lefty blog?

    Now to our supposed "hypocrisy."
"Conservatives" like Reagan, W, and Tommy Thompson all ran up their budgets, BIG time.
You talk of "rule by citizens," but is that the rich or someone living in ghetto?
I'm glad that "bureaucrats" are educated and credentialled: I don't want an idiot running our government.
I own a firearm, it's stored away safely, and I don't want open or concealed carry, or the Castle Doctrine. I have no desire to avoid the previous, sensible law.
I wish cars got better gas mileage, and the price of gas is too high.
Sneakers are all made in China or outside America, where thoughts of having a union is illegal and posssibly a death sentence.
The timing of Citizens United used the "personhood" of corporations to open the floodgates of corporate contributions to candidates. Unions take up about 12% of public and private sector jobs, so wasn't CU
    made to benefit the corporations?

I think you, Pastafarian, already have "the vapors," but one wonders what vapor you speak of.

  4. Rage is pure hypocrisy. It proves Ryan likes the sound, but has little comprehension of the lyrics. Ryan is a hypocrite and is only trying to advance his political career. Anyone who doesn't see he is only out to better his bank account is foolishly BLIND.

  5. Check out this commentary at Fox News website.
    www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/

Paul Ryan’s speech in 3 words...

    ...
    2. Deceiving

On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold....

The first word is dazzling, and the third word is distracting.

The smackdown of Paul Ryan's speech ends with this:

At the end of his speech, Ryan quoted his dad, who used to say to him, “"Son. You have a choice: You can be part of the problem, or you can be part of the solution."

Ryan may have helped solve some of the likeability problems facing Romney, but ultimately by trying to deceive voters about basic facts and trying to distract voters from his own record, Ryan’s speech caused a much larger problem for himself and his running mate.

While Kohn is not your average Fox hack, the measure of the failure of Ryan's speech is when Chris Wallace points out the lies in it. Which he did. He just did not call them lies.

  6. Paul Ryan is not a fiscal conservative, he only plays one in the media. If you take a close look at his actual actions since he's been in congress, you'll find his major purpose is to make the rich a lot richer and to hell with the rest of us. His medicare scheme fits right into that theme. And, as they said about Watergate "Follow the money!"

If you really want to know more about this faux fiscal conservative, there's a terrific (with a bit of humor sprinkled in) analysis and take-down of Congressman Ryan in the "Fryin' Ryan" post at "Grumbles From an Old Grouch" (grumblesfromanoldgrouch.com)
