JINKIES Ann, Follow the Clues.....

Jeepers Ann, Velma Dinkley you are not!

Ann Althouse came out in defense of Wisconsin Mass Murderer Wade Michael Page(WMP), and disgusted with Southern Poverty Law Center's rush to judgement!

In 2009, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security came out with a report that says that White Supremacists and Right Wing militia groups, extremists, anti-abortionists and some veterans, were the greatest threats to U.S. Domestic Terror!

This well done report(started by the Bush administration Dept. of Homeland Security) greatly upset the republican party and right wing hate sqwaukers.

Despite the fact this was a nonpartisan report, and it was correct, Secretary Napolitano, was forced by the right wing echo chamber to withdraw it and apologize.   Kudo's to the republican party on that one, what could possibly go wrong??

In the meantime, Southern Poverty Law Center, continued to track the right wing extremists and hate groups even having WMP in their sites for the last decade

To some who track the movements of white supremacist groups, the violence was not a total surprise. Mr. Page, 40, had long been among the hundreds of names on the radar of organizations monitored by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of his ties to the white supremacist movement and his role as the leader of a white-power band called End Apathy. The authorities have said they are treating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism.
This is where Ann Althouse steps in(it).

The Southern Poverty Law Center put out the early characterization of End Apathy as a "racist white power" band, but I'm not sure how they know that:
Ann is not sure how the SPLC would know that WMP and his band is a "racist white power" band....

Lets see if we can find any clues....

 mmm nothing to see here.

Let's take a look and see where Prof. Ann gets her info from...

By the way, what happened to all of the dangerous white militia groups in the 90s? They were everywhere! Did they all just decide to go bowling instead?

How much money did the SPLC raise from that great crisis?

I find it a bit creepy that SPLC defines its "intelligence project" as following around anyone who has an association with people or groups that espouse racist beliefs, even if nothing that individual has done or said themselves comes across as overtly racist. Creepiness aside, aren't there plenty of real racists out there? people who regularly and unambiguously engage in racist speech? That the have a "profile" of this man isn't only kind of disturbing, but it seems pretty frivolous.

Sometimes I think the SPLC figures that every time there are two or more white people standing on the street together, it's a white-power group.

That said, this guy was, indeed, not apathetic, in the end.

Too bad, really.

There's a lot to be said for apathy, especially among those who are fucked in the head. I think that apathy saves our society from many ills, actually.

Wait......WHAT?????  Ann Althouse uses as her argument anonymous comments on the internet?????  If Barry D  thinks that apathy saves, then I guess apathy saves and the SPLC can pack up their toys and go home!  I guess is Soron thinks right wing militia groups are not a problem, then they are not a problem.  heck we even have "Chip" (and Ann for sharing) to thank for showing us that the problem is NOT that WMP killed 6 innocent people, but that the real problem is that SPLC invaded Mr. page's privacy.   This is America, you should be able to purchase neo-Nazi goods without having to worry about some silly hate tracking group!

From the article:

"According to Heidi Beirich, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center 's intelligence project, the group has been tracking Page since 2000, when he allegedly attempted to purchase goods from the neo-Nazi National Alliance."

How does the SPLC have access to to information about a private - and perfectly legal - commercial transaction?

No wonder I do not read Althouse's posts very often, I can go on www.jsonline.com and read ridiculous racist comments anytime I want.  The only thing missing from this powerful prose is commentary from Mr. Ann Althouse(I forget his name).  Everyone usually hangs on his every word!

Are there any voices in the republican party that are NOT insane, and hateful????

  2. It's interesting to note how many Republican blowholes are so uneasy about characterizing an armed assault by a neo-nazi on a racial minority as terrorism. Because, you see, they have been mainstreaming these people into the Republican party through the Tea Party as part of long term plan to use them as street thugs in future struggles with the benefit of plausible deniability.

For this slaughter to be defined as a terroristic act means that it can be investigated by the FBI and Homeland Security and any such investigation has the potential to expose the tentacles of the Republican party that are now intertwined with the white supremacists. The Republican Southern Strategy has borne strange fruit.

    1. You mean like this?

Supporters Of Palin-Backed Senate Candidate In Alaska Parade With Guns (VIDEO)

"Supporters of the man Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express want to be the next Senator from Alaska, attorney Joe Miller, have a unique way of letting people know who they’ll be voting for in Alaska’s August 24 Republican primary — at a recent rally, they marched behind a giant black Hummer bearing Miller’s name and carried assault weapons.

The candidate’s take? Move along, nothing to see here.

“You know, guns are a pretty big thing up here in Alaska,” Miller explained on ABC News’ “Topline” webcast this afternoon. “It’s not unusual at political rallies, it’s not unusual at parades to see that kind of thing.”

“Probably, though, in the lower 48, it does raise some eyebrows,” Miller added."

    2. The Super Patriotic Republican party is sponsoring a lot of local party groups.

A person could see this in various Wisconsin parades even for our 2011 4th of July.

Giant U.S. flags, held high by white middle aged women, closely followed by dozens of rough looking guys on Harley Davidsons.

Usually followed by some dem rep in some common convertible car with a little cardboard with their name written with marker.

      Gotta love the super patriots.

    3. A lot of white middle aged women were at the rallies also. Even some motorcyclists did laps around the Capitol for the Dems. I agree that most white racists are probably Republicans, not Democrats, at least in Wisconsin.

  3. For what it's worth... a few points:
Our military was very much made a private operation through Dick Cheney. Blackwater comes to mind.
Coinciding this was the change in emphasis in the military to what is called irregular warfare.
Those involved with psychological operations are more a part of the upper levels of the military--like military intelligence?
Page was former psy ops guy, with white supremicist view, is released and joins with skinhead neo-Nazi "independant" music movement. Wasn't what he was doing a form of psy op?

    1. You're getting into some interesting areas with this comment.

While it is fiction, ever watch that movie, "Enemy of the State," with Will Smith?

      The future is now?

    2. I have been thinking along the same lines, Anonymous 5:58 -- that we are going to see wrath wreaked upon us for outsourcing psyops and more to the mercentaries of Blackwater.

Also, look up the JS story yesterday on the Fort Bragg culture that apparently turned Page for the worse. Our taxes are paying for training for neo-Nazis and white supremacists there.

We need to push Congress act on this, to fire Fort Bragg leadership, if need be. The story is scary. We have seen only the start, I fear, of dues to be paid for years to come, with what we have trained in psyops there to be turned on us.
