Tammy Baldwin's First Ad

Tammy Baldwin has her first ad for the senatorial race:

And from the accompanying press release:
"In Wisconsin, we lead the entire nation in paper industry jobs," Baldwin says in the ad, "But China, they lead the world in cheating. And it's costing us jobs in Wisconsin. So I brought Democrats and Republicans together to put sanctions on China now and punish them for making billions breaking trade rules. When the rules are fair, Wisconsin workers come out ahead."

Wisconsin has led the nation in papermaking for more than 50 years and has more jobs in the paper industry than any other state, employing nearly 53,000 workers in Wisconsin. None of the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate have yet to speak out on China's unfair trade practices and take a stand to crack down on China's cheating.

Baldwin has worked across party lines to introduce and pass bi-partisan legislation to take on China's unfair trade practices and strengthen Wisconsin's manufacturing economy by evening the playing field for workers in the Badger State.

Together with Fox Valley Congressman Reid Ribble, Baldwin introduced the CHEATS Act, which would allow the U.S. to impose countervailing duties on Chinese imports that are heavily subsidized by the Chinese government. As the Associated Press reported earlier this year, "Baldwin and Ribble said U.S. companies in some industries are at a disadvantage because of Chinese practices that violate international trade law."

In addition, Congress passed (370-39) bi-partisan legislation in March sponsored by Baldwin to restore expiring trade sanctions designed to protect Wisconsin paper mills and a select group of other American manufacturers hard hit by inexpensive Chinese imports.

Just this month Baldwin introduced The PAGE Act (Purchasing American Generates Employment) to promote Wisconsin paper. The "Buy American" legislation that would require that any paper products purchased by the federal government must be grown, reprocessed, reused or produced in the U.S.

Working with U.S. Senator Herb Kohl, Baldwin has also pressed the federal government for a balanced approach to regulations on Wisconsin's paper manufactures so that we protect our environment and public health, while at the same time we work to strengthen Wisconsin's manufacturing economy.

  1. Tammy's the real deal. Let's hope people see that and do not send another Ron Johnson type to Washington.
