Walkergate: News And Notes

A number of things have happened regarding the ongoing Walkergate investigation and criminal hearings that alone would be hard to write, but put together make an interesting set of odds, ends and points of interest.

Belated Thank You

I had meant to include this in my last post about the Son of the Caucus Scandals, but in hindsight, realize that I forgot to point out that the outline for the post came from an unknown benefactor - a friend of a friend of a friend, if you will.  My thanks goes to this unknown person for laying the ground work.

The Robin Vos Vector

A friend of Cog Dis pointed out that Robin Vos was mentioned in the criminal complaint against Kelly Rindfleisch (on page 10):

There is no indication that Vos knew what was going on - which come to think of it, is his normal modus operandi - but as a bonus piece of interest, it turns out that Vos and Reince Priebus were college roommates.

Rhodes Hits The Road

Shortly after I wrote the piece introducing Judith Rhodes-Engels to my readers, her Facebook and LinkedIn accounts have gone poof.  I'm curious if this was on her own volition or if it was "suggested" to her.

Rindfleisch In Court

Kelly Rindfleisch was in court on Thursday.  Nothing too exciting.  She waived her right to a preliminary hearing and will appear before Judge Hansher on March 20.  She still has a her motion for universal immunity and a change of venue pending.

Did I Do That?

A week or two ago, I questioned how Tim Russell, who was having apparent money problems, was able to afford two attorneys.

A couple of days ago, one of his attorneys, Andrew Franklin, filed a motion to withdraw from the case.  That hearing will be this coming Monday, March 12.

Watch Out, Tosa! Daddy's Back!

Brian Pierick, Tim Russell's partner, has moved back to Wauwatosa - without Russell.

That's all I got for now.  Like I said, these are just things that I found interesting and/or curious, and are not always directly related to the ongoing Walkergate saga but in tangential ways.

  1. Really appreciate the 411.

  2. Is their any possibility that Walker could pardon any of the Walkergate defendants (assuming they are convicted of crimes) before he leaves the Governor's office?

    1. Anything is possible, but I would think it would be rather unlikely he would do so. It would not play well at all.

  3. Good point on the Vos angle. He's at the heart of it all...ALEC... secret MBF meetings... Reince Priebus acolyte... refusing to move forward on an existing bipartisan mining bill... devout Catholic with deep ties to WisRTL (and vouchers to get the church out of bankruptcy at taxpayer expense)... but not too devout (on his 2nd marriage)... He does whatever he needs to for campaign cash for Walker, for any WisGOP, for Walker. He certainly doesn't "listen" to his constituents (he prefers lecturing using his undergrad PR/politics degree). It'll be interesting to see what emails betwee Vos & charged Walker staffers (& Priebus) that the DA has...

  4. BTW -- Vos learned his job at the hand of Bonnie Ladwig... From the State of Wisconsin legislative website:
http://legis.wisconsin.gov/spotlight/spotl203.htm (oops there's Scott Jensen's name again. Shades of vouchers & Vos:

    Ladwig Convicted

On December 28, former State Representative Bonnie Ladwig was convicted of a misdemeanor for directing aides to campaign on state time. Ladwig pleaded guilty in a plea agreement under which she will have to pay $4,500 in fines and restitution and cooperate in the prosecution of State Representative Scott Jensen and former State Representative Steve Foti, but will likely avoid jail time. Ladwig will be sentenced on or soon after March 10, 2006.
