The Walker Budget Is Already Working! Part LXXXVIII

The big news that the Republicans are clinging on to is that Wisconsin reportedly gained 12,500 jobs in January, after six months of losing jobs.

I will let my friend Jake explain a couple of things:
It's a good thing that Wisconsin has finally gained some of the jobs Walker lost back, but we are still worse off than we were a year ago.  A lot of people say that Walker lost some 11,000 jobs based on the year end results, but the fact is that we lost about five times that, once you include the jobs gained in the first half of the year before Walker's Budget Disrepair Bill and his faulty budget kicked in.

The other thing that needs to be pointed out and hammered home is that in January alone, Wisconsin lost 3,200 government jobs.  That does not fit in at all with Walker's claims that there were no mass layoffs of government workers.

Yet the media continues to give him a pass on his blatant lie.

  1. I wonder where these 3200 gov. jobs were lost. If nobody misses them, good riddens.

    1. So you think 3,200 people laid off and on unemployment is a good thing. Nice to know.

  2. Smaller government is a good thing. And I thought unemployment was the best stimulus this country has. (Nancy Pelosi)

  3. Maybe people don't even know what they are missing, for example, when a teacher is cut, students may be put in crowded classrooms. They won't get as much individual attention from the teacher. This may impact their spelling skills later in life or believe generalizations that can actually make our state less competitive.

Smaller government could be good in some ways. But, just to say "Smaller government is a good thing" is too sweeping a generalization. For example, there are several major potholes on the street in front of my house. I want them fixed. Paying less taxes, thus firing the people who fix my potholes, does me no good. I still have to get the potholes fixes or I will end up paying for car repairs.

  4. My son came home from kindergarden last fall with a note saying he was behind the rest of the class. The teacher asked that I work with him and I did. Every night after work. 4 months later he can read, add, subtract, and write. My retiredperspective mother went inthere and volunteeredI her timehouse to asdistto the teacher. There are other mothersI that doI the same. I didnt complain because I dont feel government exists to serve me. Im not saying we cant increase governments size but it needs to follow the revenue needed to pay gor it. All these jobs Cap is bragging we lost means less money for more teachers.
As far as your road you should be mad. Government took the money it collected on fuel taxes and squandered it, instead of maintaining your road. I could list some things they squandered it on but it would fall on deaf ears anyway.
Feel free to tell me where my perspective is wrong.

    1. Lucky for your son that he lives in a district where there are enough mothers who don't have to work to support their families, and can volunteer in the schools. (Why is it always - or almost always - the mothers, anyway?) That's not the case in many districts, you know.

The state constitution requires the state to provide an education for our children. The schools should not have to rely on parental volunteers to provide basic educational services. That means the state is not meeting its obligations.

  5. It is good that you got involved to help your son. I do the same with my kids. The truth is a successful state/country will be one where the government and the private sector work together for the benefit of all.

By the way, they did fix my street, that was an example, so don't worry on my account. Thank you for reading my comment.

  6. PS,
I agree with JB. Some schools have many parent volunteers, others have few. There are some things that have to be paid for and there are no shortcuts. Education is one such thing.

  7. Thanks for the kind words, capper. Sometimes you gotta cut through the MSM bullshit to give folks the reality. And the reality is that Walker is in the process of FUBAR'ing this state unless we throw his sorry ass out.

And we will. No matter how big his legal defense fund is, it won't make a difference

  8. Is this one of those reports where the numbers change a couple of weeks later? There have been so many "revised" reports that I never know what to believe.

  9. If it's from the government I know not to believe it. Trust but verify...
