The Busy Season And Our Voices Are Being Heard

Tomorrow, Scott Walker will be presenting his proposed budget for 2010. It is expected to have lots of services funded, on the condition of unrealistic concessions from the unions and the tax payers. This would be his eighth straight budget that has a the sole goal of not taking any responsibility for it. Fortunately, his budget will be moot if the contract for AFSCME is approved.

But the true grass roots group, Milwaukee County First, of which I proudly am the chair, has been working hard to help the County and the tax payers. Tonight, I show why the sales tax for transit is so important and some of the ways it will improve our local economy.

But the greatest bit of news is that State Representative Sinicki has a bill in front of the Assembly that would have a half-cent sales tax to provide direct funding for the parks, culture and recreation. The bill includes language including the property tax relief. Great big kudos to her for hearing the people and honoring their voices.

This is a great example of what can happen when community members form a real grassroots group to promote the betterment of their community.

  1. "Real" grass roots? *snicker* Sorry. Not meaning to be rude, but I find it absolutely amazing, and amusing, that those on the left can only see a group, bought and paid for by unions, as "real". Yet all the mothers, the fathers, the every day working people, who joined together to fight those policies you find so attractive as ....well, y'all call them/us rather ugly names.

  2. Well, let's see Kate, outside of $50 dollars in donations, Milwaukee County First has been entirely funded out of our own pockets.

Your "grassroots" tea parties are being organized by Faux News and Americans for Prosperity, which is being funded by an oil/chemical company.

We are trying to help people survive by pointing out the facts. Your groups are trying to help the rich get richer by using fear and smear tactics.

We've never shown up anywhere with Walker portrayed as Hitler. Your groups have.

    Shall I go on?

  3. That's where you are wrong, and have been for quite a while now. I've met these organizers, and not one of them are getting money from any of those you named. Are they getting some sponsorship AFTER the fact? Yes, this ain't cheap....electrical equipment, etc. And while y'all are obsessing with FOX News is beyond me. There is NO Fox sponsorship at all. None. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

"My groups"? Walker as Hitler? Why would anyone in Tennessee give a flying flip about Wisconsin's gubernatorial race? And why would they portray someone they don't know as Hilter? :/

I don't know why you believe you are "helping people survive" by making them more and more dependent on the government for their well being. Haven't y'all done enough damage?

Harken back to the days of Bush....open death threats....burning in effigy....hanging.... Shall I go on?

  4. Well, you rip into my grassroots group, so I showed you the comparison.

And what would you propose? Let them die? How very Christian of you.

And don't even start on death threats since Obama has received the most death threats of any sitting president. And shall we talk about the census taking that was killed in Kentucky, just for being a gubmint worker?

  5. capper, my friend, you really must stop believing everything you read on the left wing blogs.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." (Chinese proverb and common sense) Not to mention be able to provide for his family as well.

  6. The services we wish to preserve go way beyond what most people think of as "welfare."

We are talking transit, the parks, EMS, job training (or teaching them to fish), and yes, some aid while they learn how to fish. With record unemployment and the task of righting the economic ship, it is time for people to pull together, not become individual isolationists.

  7. Well sir, that's what WE are doing...pulling people together to fight against tyranny, yet you insult us. Shame. :/

It is not the government's job to take the place of churches.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No, what you are doing is aiding in tyranny.

"Don't you come, St. Peter, because I owe my soul to the company store."

And who should people turned to if the church's fail?

  9. Uh...I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but governments come and go....churches seem to be outlasting them by quite a bit. :/

Without companies, there are no jobs. No jobs, no taxes. No taxes, no government jobs.

  10. There are still companies and no jobs. What now?

  11. Companies....producing nothing.

  12. Grassroots?? How is AFP grassroots? Has anyone read their newsletter? There is nothing grassroots about them.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state and federal levels."

You have something against less government intrusion, anon?

    ReplyDelete
  14. The truth is that AFP isn't against less government intrusion. They just want to use it to control us and give them all of our money, either directly through purchases or indirectly through corporate welfare.

You, I am afraid, are being played for a patsy.

  15. I'm sorry....I had to stop laughing before I could type. Took a while.

This, from a guy who so pro union? C'mon. Who is playing the patsy?

  16. Two things you're missing, Kate, m'dear.

One, I don't always agree with my union and can express that disagreement without fear of being attacked.

Two, my union is working for me. AFP, et alia, only take your money on the pretense of wanting to lower your taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. One, no one except the gubmint is taking my money. Two, can you work at your job without being a member of your union?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kate, one: You've even posted about the crap you buy from these groups, so that is a misstatement.

Two: Yes. But I am not that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I've posted about money I've given to AFP?? I don't think so, since I've never given them a dime. Do I find some of their information helpful? Yes, I do.

And stupid is not a word I'd ever use for you. Misguided....lost...confused....but NEVER stupid. :)
