Another Example Of Right Wing Hypocrisy

When President Jimmy Carter criticized George W. Bush for his inept and corrupt presidency, the right wing was outraged. Just this one example will give you the flavor of their mood:
Disgrace?

Carter's a disgrace.

He was a miserable failure when he was in office. Absolutely miserable!

There's no question that Carter was an embarrassment as a president.

Jimmy should stick to building houses. His persistent criticism of Bush is unprecedented. Past former presidents have not made a habit out of openly bashing the sitting president.

As usual, Carter is misguided in his ideas about what's right for the country. Now, in his old age, he has become as insufferable as he is wrong.
So why is that I only see right wingers now either ignoring, if not agreeing with (yes, the same blogger), Dick Cheney when he slanders President Barack Obama?

Hopefully, their hypocrisy and hate will have a strong backlash, and the country can continue to move forward again.

  1. Wow, thanks for quoting me about Carter.
Big difference- Cheney was the vice-president. Just as Al Gore blasted Bush and he got away with it because he was a vice president.
Vice presidents are more attack dogs than former presidents and are given more latitude. Did you see many critize Gore for critizing Bush- not much, if any. We critized Gore for his ideas, though.

  2. I would have to say the same thing as Dan. President Bush did say President Obama deserves *his* silence and he has kept quiet. Cheney is a different story altogether. I don't think Cheney has ever held back on anything.

  3. If you can't see the difference, then there is something with you. I know liberals are slow to learn, but this one is really absurd. Aren't you a little embarrassed to be posting stuff like this? Doesn't it hurt the credibility of your blog posts?

  4. Just think. If there was no hypocrisy on the left you could have titled this Simply Hypocrisy to make your point.

  5. That's about right,

I guess it is disheartening. A while back I said at school that a born again right of center fellow did not like. I got a call later that day from a guy that sounded a lot like this guy threatening my life. It's not what Jesus would do. In a million years I can not imagine the late Molly Ivans or Victor Navski (of the Unitarian left)threatening my life. I guess this is a phenomenon of the right.
    Jesus never threatened anyone.

  6. Cheney was the VP. He is not anymore. He has no business opening his vile mouth unless he is trying to bluster enough crap to conceal the truth.

  7. Hell, I say let the war criminal with the 10% favorability rating, along with the drug/sex addicted talk show host with the 15% favorability rating continue to be their mouthpieces. Please.

  8. capper, what a bunch of crap. Nothing like denying freedom of speech. Did you complain when Al Gore went ballestic on bush? Nah, didn't think so. Capper, thy name is hypocrite.

  9. Capper, if you're going to slander me, calling me a hypocrite and a hater, why aren't you man enough to call me out by name?

Talk about spreading hate in our delightful little Wisconsin blogosphere!

    Can't you debate without baiting?

I guess your bad habits are hard to break.

    A few points--

You're failing to grasp the difference between Cheney's comments and those made by the disgraceful Carter.

First, PRESIDENT Bush hasn't said anything. He has not criticized sitting president Obama.

Second, Cheney isn't slandering Obama personally the way Carter slammed President Bush. He's disagreeing with Obama policy that has the potential to put Americans at great risk.

Third, Cheney is being threatened by a Congressional and Justice Department witch hunt that could lead to him being put on trial.

Fourth, Obama's White House has hinted at the same thing.

No government official or entity put the miserable failure Carter in the position of facing possible prosecution. Of course, former VICE PRESIDENT Cheney should defend himself. Of course, he should defend the Bush administration's successful policies that kept our country safe for 7 years.

Fifth, Vice President Cheney is not engaged in unsanctioned diplomatic trips.

Carter actively undermined President Bush and the Bush administration by traveling to the region and negotiating with Hamas.

More important than defending himself, however, I believe Cheney is concerned about the welfare of our nation. He's not playing politics.

The difference between Jimmy Carter's despicable assault on President Bush and Dick Cheney's comments about Obama policy is apples and oranges.

  10. Mary-

First of all, I don't know if that is your name or just a pseudonym. I used your site since it is so typical and you are so reliable in your hypocrisy.

The biggest difference is perspecitve, i.e. I have some and you don't.

If your hate-addled mind were able to process things accurately, you would have noticed that I never criticized Bush. So why bring him into it.

Secondly, Carter was criticizing Bush's failed policies, with facts of events that had already occurred. Cheney was criticizing Obama's policies for things that have not happened, and probably won't ever happen.

If Cheney broke the law, he should face trial. What laws are you accusing Carter of breaking?

And is the country better and safer? Really? Terrorism increased under the Bush/Cheney regime. The entire global economy came damn close to collapsing entirely led by their greed and ineptitude.

Furthermore, your spin, or the spin of Faux News is hardly a credible basis for an argument.
