Holy Day Hypocrisy

As I recall, in the past few years, the National Football League seemed to always schedule a Green Bay Packer game on Christmas Day or on Christmas Eve Day. This would inspire the right wing to bellyache, gnash their teeth and pull their hair out, going on about the NFL's lack of respect for the Christian faithful, and they would lament having to chose between practicing their faith, or watching the Pack.

Today is Good Friday. Traditionally, Christians are supposed to commemorate the time that Christ hung on the cross. This is done from noon to 3 pm.

The Brewers are scheduled to start play at 3 pm for their opening home game, which means that instead of remembering and honoring Christ's crucifixion, they will be eating brat and burgers and drinking themselves into a stupor. The Brewers are also scheduled to play on Easter Sunday, which is the holiest of holidays in the Christian faith.

Yet I do not recall one right winger expressing anything but excitement about the opening day game.

Why does baseball get the pass and football doesn't?

  2. Honestly, I don't see anything to get excited about when it comes to ANY sport. Now, the holiest days to Christians? THOSE are something to get really excited about.

    Care to provide some evidence?

  4. Dad-

How many factions are there on the right that you all keep disowning each other?

    Dan-

I am not going to go scrolling through all the blogs, but I do recall Charlie running this topic for at least two days and on his TV show.
